Nash County Public Schools to Host SEL Community of Practice Showcase

Nash County, N.C. - Nash County Public Schools (NCPS) will host a Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Community of Practice Showcase on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Rocky Mount High School.

The showcase will feature a series of presentations and activities centered around the integration of SEL within the district's educational framework. Attendees will enjoy a rich agenda that includes a dynamic drumming expo by Nashville Elementary drummers, practical discussions on SEL curriculum enhancements, and the introduction of supplemental behavioral supports. Experts within the district, such as Jeannie Kerr, Director of Project AWARE, and Angela Caudle, Director of MTSS, will examine the district's strategic approach to SEL.

The event promises to be an engaging and informative day for educators, administrators, and stakeholders, aimed at fostering a resilient and supportive educational environment across Nash County schools. It will conclude with a networking lunch, providing participants with the opportunity to discuss SEL strategies and practices. The attendees include guests from DPI, SERVE Center, Trillium, NC Public School Forum, ABSS/Alamance Collaborative, and Wilson, Sampson, Wayne, Johnston, and Chapel Hill-Carrboro school districts.
