NCPS Celebrates National School Counseling Week

Nashville, NC, – Dr. Steven Ellis, Superintendent of Nash County Public Schools, officially proclaimed National School Counseling Week in Nash County the week of February 5-9, 2024. This special week is dedicated to recognizing the pivotal role of school counselors in public schools across the county. National School Counseling Week aims to highlight the unique contributions of school counselors within the U.S. school system and their tremendous impact on helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. School counselors are essential in providing students with the academic and emotional support they need to reach their full potential.

"Whereas school counselors are employed in public schools to help students reach their full potential and are actively committed to helping students explore their abilities, interests, and talents as these traits relate to career awareness and development," Dr. Ellis stated in the proclamation.

The declaration further acknowledges school counselors' crucial work in collaboration with parents, teachers, and other educators to guide students in exploring their potential and setting realistic goals for themselves. Additionally, it highlights the importance of comprehensive developmental school counseling programs as an integral part of the educational process that enables all students to succeed.

"School counselors are a vital part of our educational team, working tirelessly to support our students' educational, personal, and social growth," said Dr. Ellis. "This week, we honor their dedication and their significant impact in guiding our students toward productive futures."

Nash County Public Schools invites the community to join in acknowledging school counselors' hard work and dedication and the positive difference they make in students' lives daily.
